๐Ÿš€ Orbit Byte

A retro pixel arcade adventure across tiny planets, dangerous bosses, power cards, hero powers and endless orbit runs.

Orbit Byte is an HTML5 retro-space arcade game where you control the Byte Ranger, a tiny robotic hero exploring unstable micro-planets invaded by strange space creatures.

Run across spherical planets, collect glowing orbs, grab special cores, avoid enemies, defeat bosses, unlock medals, buy cosmetics, and push your score as far as your reflexes allow.

๐ŸŒŒ Story

The Orbit Chain is collapsing.

A group of rogue micro-planets has been infected by shapeshifting space invaders. Energy orbs are scattered across their surfaces, bosses are guarding unstable cores, and strange planetary anomalies are spreading from world to world.

You are the Byte Ranger, a small but brave robot explorer sent by Orbit HQ to stabilize the galaxy.

Your mission is simple:

Collect the orbs. Survive the planet. Defeat the bosses. Keep the orbit alive.

๐ŸŽฎ Game Modes

๐Ÿ“– Story Mode

A campaign-style adventure through a generated route of invaded planets.

Choose a campaign length and travel through the galaxy, clearing planets one by one. Every fifth planet contains a boss encounter. Story Mode includes route previews, campaign saving/loading and cinematic moments where Orbit HQ sends you into battle.

โ™พ๏ธ Arcade Run — Endless Orbit

The classic endless arcade mode.

Start from level 1 and keep clearing planets for as long as you can. Each planet increases the challenge. Bosses appear depending on the selected boss setting, and your run continues until you lose.

Arcade Run tracks:

  • ๐Ÿช maximum planet reached,
  • โญ best score,
  • ๐Ÿ† best rank,
  • ๐Ÿ‘พ bosses defeated,
  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ best combo,
  • ๐Ÿช™ coins earned.

๐Ÿงฌ Rogue Orbit

A roguelike-style mode with persistent memory.

You start with only one life. Each run begins again at level 1, but permanent upgrades can survive between attempts. During the run, you may find temporary cards and rare permanent improvements.

Permanent Rogue upgrades can include:

  • โค๏ธ extra starting lives,
  • ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ permanent shield memory,
  • โšก faster boost recovery,
  • ๐Ÿงฒ passive magnet effect,
  • ๐Ÿ”‹ longer Hunter Mode,
  • ๐Ÿ’Ž more special cores.

When you lose, the run resets, but your Rogue Orbit memory remains.

๐Ÿ‘‘ Boss Rush

A focused challenge mode with five bosses in a row.

Boss Rush removes normal orb-clearing and puts the emphasis on boss cores, Hunter Mode and survival. Defeat five bosses, recover partial life between fights, earn extra coins and try to enter the Boss Rush ranking.

๐Ÿ“… Daily Challenge

A fixed daily route generated locally from the date.

Every day has its own challenge with the same planet route, events, bosses and upgrade card offers. The difficulty is fixed, the route is the same for that day, and your result is saved locally.

Complete daily challenges to earn coins and unlock daily medals.

๐ŸŒ™ Training Moon

A short guided training mode.

Learn the basics:

  • movement,
  • jumping,
  • boost,
  • orb collection,
  • radar,
  • enemies,
  • Hunter Mode.

Recommended for first-time players.

๐Ÿงช Practice Planet

A testing and practice mode.

Choose the planet, boss setting, event, hero, enemy, difficulty, control style, hero powers and active card. Practice Planet does not count for rankings, medals, coins or Codex unlocks.

Useful for learning planets, testing bosses and trying different heroes.

๐Ÿ†š Multiplayer Battle

A local multiplayer mode.

One player controls the Ranger while up to four other players can control invaders. The Ranger tries to clear the planet; the invaders try to stop them.

  • ๐Ÿค– Ranger: keyboard, touch or gamepad 1.
  • ๐Ÿ‘พ Invaders: extra gamepads or keyboard layouts.
  • ๐Ÿ  Local play only.

๐Ÿ•น๏ธ Controls

The game supports keyboard, touch controls and gamepads.

๐Ÿš— Vehicle / Tank Controls

The default classic arcade control style.

  • โฌ†๏ธ Up: accelerate.
  • โฌ‡๏ธ Down: brake / reverse.
  • โฌ…๏ธโžก๏ธ Left / Right: turn.
  • โฃ Space / A: jump.
  • Shift / X / B: boost.
  • C / Y: change camera.
  • M / LB: toggle radar.
  • P / Start: pause.

This mode feels like driving a small robot around a curved planet.

๐ŸŽฏ Direct Screen-Relative Controls

A simpler modern control style.

  • โฌ†๏ธ Up moves the Ranger upward on the screen.
  • โฌ‡๏ธ Down moves downward.
  • โฌ…๏ธ Left moves left/west.
  • โžก๏ธ Right moves right/east.

You can choose your preferred style the first time you launch the game, and you can change it later in Options.

๐Ÿช Planet Types

Each planet changes the feel of the game.

  • ๐ŸŒ Normal Planet — pure arcade movement.
  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire Planet — lava, heat and volcanic danger.
  • ๐ŸŒŠ Water Planet — slippery aquatic movement and bubbles.
  • โ˜„๏ธ Meteor Planet — incoming impacts and warning zones.
  • โ„๏ธ Ice Planet — slippery inertia and harder braking.
  • ๐Ÿœ๏ธ Desert Planet — moving sand that makes you sink unless you jump.
  • ๐ŸŒ‘ Darklight Planet — limited visibility and dark atmosphere.
  • ๐Ÿชž Mirror Orbit — reversed/mirrored control challenge.
  • ๐ŸŒฟ Jungle Planet — plants, spores and organic hazards.
  • ๐Ÿ›ค๏ธ Pathrunner Planet — objects drift around the planet.
  • โš™๏ธ Clockwork Planet — world speed changes between fast, normal and slow cycles.

โšก Planet Events

Planets may trigger special events:

  • ๐ŸŒฉ๏ธ Orb Storm — more orbs, more chaos.
  • ๐Ÿ“ก Radar Jam — radar glitches and interference.
  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ Double Combo — combo scoring becomes more powerful.
  • ๐Ÿ‘พ Enemy Swarm — more invaders and better Hunter rewards.
  • ๐Ÿช‚ Low Gravity Surge — huge jumps.
  • ๐Ÿ’Ž Power Core Rain — many more special cores.

Events can be enabled, disabled or made more frequent in Options.

๐Ÿƒ Upgrade Cards

After clearing a planet, you may choose one of three upgrade cards for the next planet.

Examples:

  • ๐Ÿš€ Longer Boost — boost lasts longer and recovers better.
  • ๐Ÿงฒ Magnet Orbit — nearby orbs are pulled toward you.
  • ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Extra Shield — start the next planet with a shield.
  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ Combo Master — longer combo window.
  • ๐Ÿ”‹ Hunter Battery — Hunter Mode lasts longer.
  • ๐Ÿ’Ž Lucky Core — more special cores appear.

Upgrade Cards can be enabled or disabled in Options.

๐Ÿค– Hero Powers

Each hero skin has a small gameplay personality. Hero powers are enabled by default and can be disabled in Options.

Examples:

  • ๐Ÿค– Byte Bot — faster boost recharge.
  • ๐Ÿš€ Nova Pilot — better maximum speed.
  • ๐Ÿฑ Astro Cat — improved jumping.
  • ๐Ÿคฟ Bubble Diver — better control on water planets.
  • ๐ŸŒต Cactus Ranger — better survival in desert sand.
  • โ„๏ธ Ice Knight — better movement on ice.
  • โš”๏ธ Solar Samurai — stronger Hunter Mode.
  • ๐ŸฆŠ Lunar Fox — smoother turning and softer collisions.
  • ๐Ÿง™ Glitch Wizard — longer non-Hunter power-ups.
  • ๐Ÿ›ธ Tiny UFO Rider — better boost duration.
  • ๐Ÿ‰ Pixel Dragon — stronger boost burst.

๐Ÿ’Ž Power-Ups and Special Cores

Special cores can appear on planets.

  • โšก Hunter Core — lets you defeat/tag enemies for bonus points.
  • ๐Ÿงฒ Magnet Core — attracts nearby orbs.
  • ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Shield Bubble — absorbs one hit.
  • โฑ๏ธ Time Freeze — slows enemies.
  • ๐Ÿš€ Rocket Boots — enables extra aerial movement.
  • ๐Ÿ‘ป Ghost Phase — lets you pass through obstacles briefly.

๐Ÿ‘พ Boss Battles

Boss planets change the objective.

Instead of only collecting all orbs, you must defeat the boss. Collect Boss Cores, charge your attack, activate Hunter Mode and strike.

Bosses include:

  • ๐Ÿ‘‘ Orbit Sentinel,
  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ Volcano Beast,
  • ๐Ÿ™ Giant Astro Octopus,
  • โ˜„๏ธ Orbital Cannon,
  • โ„๏ธ Crystal Guardian,
  • ๐Ÿชฑ Sand Worm,
  • ๐ŸŒ‘ Nocturne Warden,
  • ๐Ÿชž Mirror Monarch,
  • ๐ŸŒฟ Canopy Kraken,
  • ๐Ÿ›ค๏ธ Path Weaver,
  • โš™๏ธ Gear King.

Boss hits trigger visual impact, particles, sounds, HP feedback and dramatic defeat effects.

๐Ÿ† Planet Ranks

At the end of each planet, you receive a rank:

C / B / A / S / S+

Ranks depend on several factors:

  • โœ… planet cleared,
  • โฑ๏ธ time,
  • ๐ŸŽฏ optional mission,
  • โค๏ธ deaths,
  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ combo,
  • ๐Ÿ‘พ boss performance,
  • ๐Ÿ’Ž full sweep of objectives.

Higher ranks give extra points, adjusted by difficulty.

๐Ÿฅ‡ Medals and Coins

The game includes a large medal system.

Medals reward:

  • first clears,
  • planet achievements,
  • boss victories,
  • hero-specific challenges,
  • Rogue Orbit progress,
  • Daily Challenge progress,
  • Boss Rush success,
  • Arcade/Endless milestones,
  • high-rank play.

Medals give coins, and coins can be spent in the shop.

When a medal unlocks, a small non-blocking notification appears at the top of the screen with the medal tier, coin reward and a short jingle.

๐Ÿ›’ Shop and Customization

Spend coins to unlock and equip:

  • ๐Ÿค– hero skins,
  • ๐Ÿ‘พ enemy skins,
  • โœจ hero finishes,
  • โœจ enemy finishes,
  • ๐ŸŽจ retro palettes,
  • ๐Ÿช special planet themes.

Finishes include metallic and neon styles such as:

  • ๐Ÿฅ‰ Bronze,
  • ๐Ÿฅˆ Silver,
  • ๐Ÿฅ‡ Golden,
  • ๐Ÿ’Ž Diamond,
  • ๐ŸŒˆ Neon 84.

The shop marks items as locked, owned or equipped, and bought items can be equipped directly.

๐Ÿ“ก Radar

The radar helps you understand the planet quickly.

It can show:

  • player position,
  • orbs,
  • special cores,
  • enemies,
  • hazards,
  • boss position,
  • boss attacks,
  • nearest objective direction.

Some events and planets affect the radar. For example, Radar Jam adds glitches, and Darklight planets can limit distant information.

Orbit Byte is a single-file HTML5 browser game using WebGL/Three.js-style 3D rendering, procedural audio and local browser storage.

For best results, play in a modern desktop browser. Mobile and touch controls are supported, but performance may depend on the device. Use Potato Mode if the game feels slow.

Fullscreen is supported through the browser, for example with F11 on desktop.
